Women's Connection
The Women's Connection provides alumnae and friends of CMU with the latest academic updates, information, and programs for personal and professional growth. This new association provides a platform for alumnae and friends to be actively engaged in the advancement of the university and to promote and enhance learning opportunities for CMU students.
Background
CMU Women's Connection launched its first event in the spring of 2004 in the Metro Detroit area. The event was such a success that events also were held in Traverse City, Grand Rapids, and the mid-Michigan areas. The Tri-Cities area has since been added to the annual circuit that we travel, each year a different new and exciting program from the university featured.
Did you know that 60 percent of CMU alumni are women? This initiative was designed to unite friends like you to share relevant information that facilitates your close involvement in the life of the university and provides networking opportunities with those in your area of the state.
Interested in becoming more involved? The Women's Connection has several regional advisory boards and welcomes additional volunteers. The input, feedback and suggestions have been invaluable.
Women's Connection Award
Established in 2007 by CMU Women's Connection supporters, income from this renewable scholarship will help to support a part-time or full-time CMU student who is a single parent or a student from a single-parent household. The applicant must demonstrate a financial need and have a minimum GPA of 2.75. The financial challenges faced by single parents today often result in sacrificing the pursuit of a college education. It is our sincere wish that we assist someone to fulfill his or her desire for a higher education who might not otherwise be able to make this a reality.
Reason's for Giving
CMU currently provides some students with assistance, but these awards are not keeping pace with the needs of our students. Additional needs-based awards make it possible for more students to enroll at CMU and fulfill their dreams.
