LEADER ADVANCEMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROTOCOL

All Leader Advancement Scholarship recipients will complete specified courses together as a cohort. These courses fulfill general education requirements and do not constitute additional course work for the student. Additionally, the courses required in the LAS protocol align well with the University's newly created Leadership Minor.

Freshman Year:
Fall Semester Courses

COM 267L - Intro to Debate
PSY 100L - Intro to Psychology

LDR 100 - Leadership Colloquium

 

Spring Semester Courses

HST 110L - The American Experience
PSC 105L - American Government and Politics
LDR 101 - Leadership Colloquium

 

Experiences

Active in a LEAD committee

Involvement in a registered student organization

Attendance at 3 leadership lectures each semester

One seminar or workshop pertaining to leadership

Volunteer for a minimum of one community service activity

 

Sophomore Year:

Fall Semester Courses

Spring Semester Courses

COM 461L - Seminar in Leadership & Communication

Experiences

Mentor a freshman LAS

 

Junior Year:

Service on a University academic committee

Involvement in a community service project or a leadership placement opportunity

Attendance at designated leadership activities

Leadership position on a LEAD  committee

 

Senior Year:

Experiences

Participate in an on-going community service project or leadership placement opportunity

Involvement in 2 student organizations
Leadership position in an organization

Service/membership on a University committee

Attend designated leadership activities

Plan a leadership experience for a RSO or office
