Roloff named 2008 Homecoming grand marshal
Amy Roloff, star of “Little People, Big World,” will serve as CMU’s 2008 Homecoming Grand Marshal.
Roloff received a bachelor’s degree in business from CMU in 1985. Currently, she and her family have a show on TLC capturing their lives.
In a news release, Roloff says to be chosen is an honor and privilege. “It’s overwhelming to be chosen as grand marshal. I would have never thought this would happen. It’s exciting,” Roloff said. “CMU means a lot to me, and as the years go by, you’re a lot more reflective. It’s an honor and a privilege.”
Homecoming festivities begin Oct. 10. Roloff will lead the morning parade and participate in the half-time ceremony at the home football game.
RPL students raise funds to help community
CMU students in two class sections of the recreation class RPL 430 contributed $12,000 in funds and goods to charities.
The students hosted social and recreational programs and residence hall students collected usable goods to make the contribution successful.
Instructors Tim Otteman and Lori Stoudt have completed more than 1,900 hours of out-of-class planning and execution of the events. Over seven semesters they have raised more than $40,000, according to a CMU news release.
People who benefited from the fundraiser were the Humane Animal Society, the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, Habitat for Humanity for Isabella County, Women’s Aid Service of Isabella County and America Reads, to name a few.
Exhibit gives visitors chance to develop five senses
A multisensory art exhibit by CMU senior Katherine LaBeau of Monroe will give visitors a chance to take a deeper look into how their five senses actually work.
The interactive display features experiences for all five senses and a reference time for when the sense became emerged with human life, according to a CMU news release.
The exhibit will also display how we use our senses and the role they play in life. The display is free and open to the public.
