Museum of Cultural and Natural History
The Museum of Cultural and Natural History
serves Michigan residents as both a public museum and laboratory for higher education. Since the museum opened in 1970, it has become a repository for many donated and discovered artifacts and natural specimens – from the plants and animals preserved by biologists to the lumbering and pioneering era tools unearthed by archeologists. The museum houses exhibits from the university’s historical, biological, geological and anthropological collections. Central Michigan students who are pursuing careers in the museum field are responsible for curating the museum’s collections. They prepare the specimens, design and construct the exhibits, and conduct most of the public tours and educational programs at the museum.
