Gerald L. Poor School Museum
This one-room schoolhouse is located on the west side of CMU's campus and stands as a monument to rural education. The school originally was located in Jasper Township near Midland, Mich., and was brought to the CMU campus in 1970. The
Museum of Cultural and Natural History staff members and many dedicated friends worked to restore the building to its original state, complete with donated artifacts such as slates, desks with inkwells, McGuffey readers and a wood-burning stove. Students from area schools can arrange meetings and classroom simulations in the
Gerald L. Poor School
Museum.
