Graduation Calendar

NOTE: The "date of determination" references the final institutional determination of graduation status.

An institution of higher education (IHE) utilizing Title IV funds must provide regular enrollment status updates to the Department of Education. This page references aspects related to a final institutional determination of graduation status for a given term determined by the University.

A status change resulting from graduation must be reported via the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) no later than sixty (60) days from the date of determination of the graduation status (final validation of graduation requirements). The date of determination of graduation status for Central Michigan University will be forty (40) business days past the published graduation date for any given term.

For CMU, this is designated as the Closing/NSC Transmission date. This timeframe allows the University to execute business practices needed to determine graduation, award credentials, and submit the required information to NSLDS and other entities. The Registrar’s Office will ensure appropriate internal communication of particular term dates and provide oversight of systems and services utilized to transmit required data to the NSLDS. Adherence to the above dates and procedures is critical for Central Michigan University to comply with Title 34, Subtitle B, Chapter VI, Part 685 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
