Logos

CMU's wordmark is one way that the university brands itself in publications and on the Web.

CMU faculty and staff are encouraged to download the logos available on this site for use in publications and Web sites. Please note that the use of these images is outlined in the Graphic Identity Standards.

Any individual, organization, or company wishing to use CMU's wordmarks and trademarks for commercial applications on shirts and other merchandise must obtain the right to do so. For more information, visit this site.

For additional information on logo and wordmark use, or if you have any questions, please contact University Communications at (989) 774-3197, or e-mail Amy Gouin.

CMU logos for Web sites

Because the two-color wordmark may not display properly on the Web, a one-color or reverse wordmark should be used in all Web applications. The maroon on gold, gold on maroon, and white on maroon GIFs must be used with matching color backgrounds. Web-safe colors for CMU are: maroon - hex # 660033; gold - hex # FFCC00.

For other sizes of the wordmark than those provided here as GIFs, or for uses where another color background is to be applied, you must generate a new image from one of the TIFF, EPS, or PNG files to ensure proper resolution and background color blending. Read the Graphic Identity Standards to obtain the correct hexadecimal colors and to ensure you are allowing adequate negative space (“white space”) around wordmark images.

To create a transparent gif that works with your background color, apply your background color to the .tiff or a .png file, resize as required, and save as a transparent .gif with your background color selected as the transparent color.
