Donors & Gifts

The Development & Alumni Relations Office at Central Michigan University is the place to go to help sustain quality education in this region. Your gift allows CMU to provide scholarships, establish professorships, support academic programs, purchase instructional equipment and library materials, encourage other activities such as athletics and student life, and address other needs not met or not funded by the state.

Support Academic Programs

CMU holds distinction as one of Michigan’s most vibrant, academically rigorous public universities – a hard-earned reputation established after more than a century of service.

The history-making New Vision of Excellence Campaign is a broadly focused initiative that will help secure CMU’s position as a university that is nationally recognized for excellent undergraduate and graduate education, targeted applied research and doctoral programs, and an exemplary learning environment.

Support These Programs:

Support Athletics

The Campaign for Central Michigan University includes initiatives that will realize the immense potential in CMU’s Division IA athletic programs. CMU will construct a new Events Center and provide ongoing support for a variety of emerging needs.

A new Events Center will serve many purposes – from concerts to commencement, community exhibits, high school basketball tournaments, and CMU athletic events. For CMU Athletics, the center will become the cornerstone of an improved Division IA basketball program, which in 2003 achieved CMU’s first-ever men’s first-round NCAA tournament victory. As a member of the Mid-American Conference, Central Michigan University and its Department of Athletics have attained elite status as a Division IA institution. Athletic success builds visibility, spirit, and pride and enhances the image of the university for all to see. CMU’s athletic success also aids in recruiting students and increasing the interest of the university community, alumni, and friends.

Support Libraries

The CMU Libraries truly are at the heart of Central Michigan University, and they touch every student with opportunities for reading, research, and study. Central Michigan University is committed to offering exceptional library resources and services.

The University Libraries – comprising the University Library, the Clarke Historical Library, and Off-Campus Library Services – play an essential role in supporting students, faculty, and community members in learning, teaching, and research. On campus, the newly expanded and renovated Park Library, in which the University Library and the Clarke Historical Library reside, is the most heavily used academic building on campus. It is an outstanding resource that places CMU’s library facilities at the forefront of campus libraries in the nation.

Support Public Broadcasting

Founded more than 30 years ago, CMU Public Broadcasting today is the largest university-owned public broadcasting network in the nation. With six television and seven radio stations, CMU Public Broadcasting reaches more than two million residents in a coverage area that includes at least 52 counties in central and northern Michigan and portions of Ontario. This outreach greatly enhances and expands CMU’s mission to provide vital information, entertainment, and educational resources to both a large geographical area and underserved communities.
