Prior Learning credits are already a great deal. You earn college credits toward select undergraduate or graduate degree programs by documenting past work and life experience. You’re awarded the credits for college-level experience that applies to your degree. And you get those credits at a fraction of the cost of regular tuition.
Now it’s even better. Meet the eligibility requirements and we’ll waive the $125 fee and the per credit fee for any prior learning credits you are awarded. Yes, your qualifying Prior Learning credits will be free!
Who’s eligible
- All active-duty military, Reserve and National Guard members who are newly admitted to Central Michigan University between now and the end of summer 2025.
- All U.S. military branches are included.

- Bachelor of Science in Community Development
- Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership
- Bachelor of Science in Administration
- Master of Science in Administration
How much can I save?
- Bachelor’s degrees – undergraduate students can earn up to 60 PL credits
- Save $125 on the PL credit assessment fee
- Save the $110 fee for each undergraduate PL credit you earn
- Maximum $110 x 60 = $6,600
- Save the tuition for classes you don’t have to take, $250/credit hour military rate
- Maximum $250 x 60 = $15,000
- Graduate degree – graduate students can earn up to 12 PL credits
- Save $125 on the PL credit assessment fee
- Save the $125 fee for each graduate PL credit you earn
- Maximum $125 x 12 = $1,500
- Save the tuition for classes you don’t have to take, $399/credit hour military rate
- Maximum $399 x 12 = $4,788
