Faculty Personnel Services is a community of dedicated and experienced Human Resource Professionals devoted to supporting the academic mission of the University by managing the employment relationships between CMU’s 1400+ faculty employees and the University.
FPS staff works to expertly, and humanely, serve the needs of CMU faculty in the course of their employment. We are committed to promoting a safe and equitable work environment and establishing and communicating sound policies and practices that treat employees fairly.
From new hire orientation, through probation, reappointment, the complexities of fixed term faculty employment, promotion, tenure, and sabbatical, FPS partners with administrators and faculty to find solutions to the many challenging and rewarding aspects of academic employment at Central.
As part of the Academic Division, FPS provides advice, support, training, and professional education to the academic community. Our core constituency includes the president, provost, deans, department chairpersons, their staffs, and most importantly, our faculty and graduate assistants. We also serve as strategic partners to Office of Civil Rights and Institutional Equity, General Counsel, Athletics, Student Affairs, and work with the staff Human Resources’ office to establish a community of HR expertise for the university community.
