Office for Institutional Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Office for Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (OIDEI) is responsible for university policies and campus initiatives that support CMU's commitment to being a fully inclusive institution.

Our mission

The Office for Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (OIDEI) is the driving force behind CMU’s commitment to creating a culture of belonging. The work of our division emerges in the expansion of institutional policy, procedure, and practice as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Hundreds of students march on a sidewalk carrying signs with Martin Luther King Jr.'s likeness and words from his "I have a dream" speech.

Unity has never meant uniformity.

9th Annual Central Michigan University Diversity Symposium

Join us for a series of presentations, speakers, and workshops around this year's theme of "Embracing the 'I' in DEIJB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Belonging)." This day will feature opening remarks from CMU President Bob Davies, keynote luncheon speaker Holiday Simmons, MSW, and research-based presentation tracks.

The 9th annual Diversity Symposium takes place April 24-25 in the Bovee UC Rotunda and Terrace Rooms.
