Honors Program

A community of scholars since 1961

Our program offers a comprehensive and immersive academic experience for bright, talented, and highly motivated students who are passionate about personal growth, critical and creative thinking , and the pursuit of meaning.

Honors students:

  • Receive 75% of all President's and Provost's Research Awards and other awards each year.
  • Present, publish and perform their scholarly works locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Plan on continuing their education or have employment offers after graduation. More than 50% of graduates last year planned to attend graduate programs.
  • Participate in a study abroad experience. Almost 20% of our students take part in study abroad programs each year and have traveled to all seven continents!
  • Are committed to to civic engagement. Our current student body has completed more than 20,000 hours of community service, and raised thousands of dollars for local charities through philanthropy projects.

How do I apply for the Centralis Scholarship?

  1. Apply to CMU at fireup.cmich.edu/apply or the Common App.
  2. Meet the minimum high school GPA of 3.7. Students who apply with this GPA listed are automatically sent a link to the Centralis application.
  3. Use the link in your applicant portal to complete the Centralis application.

Applications must be submitted by November 1, 2024.

Mission statement

Providing high academic ability students with unique educational opportunities and experiences, the CMU Honors Program challenges students to aim higher and to achieve more academically, personally, and professionally for the greater good of our disciplines, our society, and our world.

Mocktails and Etiquette Dinner

Details:

Mark your calendar now for the Fall Mocktail Mixer & Etiquette Dinner in the Bovee University Center Rotunda. This program is intended for upper-class students who are preparing for internships, job searches, and graduate school interviews and is appropriate for all career fields. Business professional dress is expected. Schedule with First Impressions now if you need professional attire. Space is limited. Registration is required! Any registrations after Wednesday, October 9 - we will not be able to accommodate any dietary restrictions.
