Community Recognition Alumni Award

Ronald Farrell '65, '81

In providing educational leadership for more than four decades (I was actually in the public schools for forty-seven years with forty-one of those as an administrator at Montabella Community Schools), Ron has made a lasting impact on students, their families, and the Montabella Community. Recently retired as the Superintendent of Montabella Community Schools, Ron previously served the district as principal of Blanchard Elementary School and Montabella Middle School. Ron knows very well the importance of fostering educational opportunities to young minds.

During the 2010 – 2011 school year, Ron made the decision to forgo his salary and allow the funds to strengthen the school’s budget during a very difficult economic time. And upon retirement at the end of June, Ron along with his wife Sharron gave $10,000 to Montabella Schools to begin the Montabella Community Schools Education Foundation which he hopes will grow and expand to provide for teaching and learning opportunities for the people of Montabella.

A two-time CMU graduate, Ron earned his B.A. degree in 1965 and his Specialist in Education degree in 1981. In addition to being a long-time member of The CMU Presidents Club Ron served on the Education and Human Services Campaign Committee during the New Vision of Excellence from 2003 to 2006.
