The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) is a diverse and adaptive program focused on developing America's future leaders. Whether you aim to commission as an Army officer or pursue our leadership-focused minor, you will graduate with the values and skills needed to lead in any path your future takes.
Army ROTC is widely recognized as the best leadership course in the country, integrated into your college curriculum. Through classroom instruction and field training, you will learn firsthand what it takes to lead others, motivate teams, and conduct missions as an Army officer. Central Michigan University’s Army ROTC program stands out with its unique approach. The curriculum is engaging, challenging, and relevant, preparing you for success.
Our instructors embody the Army's seven core values, committing themselves to developing the leadership skills you’ll need in the military or a civilian career. They provide the support and resources to help you unlock your full leadership potential.
If you’re interested in becoming a United States Army officer, you may be eligible for two-, three-, or four-year full-tuition scholarships. Scholarship recipients also receive up to $600 for textbooks each semester and a $420 monthly living stipend.
The Department of Military Science and Leadership is headquartered at Central Michigan University, with satellite programs at Ferris State University, Alma College, and Northwood University, where students can also enroll.
A transformative experience abroad
The focus of Central Michigan University’s Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) has always been to shape America’s future leaders through learning both in and out of the classroom. During a memorable spring break, the Chippewa Battalion traveled to Europe on a staff ride, immersing themselves in the history of WWII and D-Day.
Field Leaders Reaction Course
Comprised of 10 different obstacles, the Field Leaders Reaction Course tests participants mentally and physically.
