Our school continued for 2 years. And though there was a gap of server years before another teacher..." They were expected to teach them to plant and cultivate gardens and farms. They learned to plant corn and vegetables but not flowers. Chiel Peain said making flowers beds "too much work for Indian". He had the children clear 3 or 4 acres and put a brick fence around it. They then took all the flower seeds, sowed them broadcast and then raked them in. Never wre flowers enjoyed like those. As soon as school was out the children raced to the flower bed. Chief Peeain was greatly please and "had us write a letter to the Indian agen thanking him for the seeds."
