      Community reporter near the mountains!

Come work and play in a great part of the Rocky Mountain West!

The Lovell Chronicle, an award-winning community weekly in the spectacular Big Horn Basin of northwest Wyoming, has an opening for a lead reporter to help write and produce our hometown, family-owned newspaper.

This has been a very stable job in a fine community. Tight knit staff in a friendly town.

We’re looking for a versatile journalist who can report and write hard news and general community topics, handle a camera, help cover local sports and edit copy. We need someone with the right touch to help produce our small-town paper.

This is a perfect step up for a reporter with some experience who wants to put his or her mark on a strong community weekly and/or a college graduate who wants to learn journalism in the great incubator that is a community newspaper. Our paper has a rich tradition of journalism and has consistently been judged one of the top weekly newspapers in Wyoming.

We work closely with our sister newspapers in Basin and Greybull.

This job will give you the freedom that comes with independent, community journalism, free
from corporate chains. The Chronicle has had just two family owners in the last
98 years and five publishers during that time.

Lovell, the Rose City of Wyoming, is located in the north end of Wyoming’s Big Horn Basin at the
doorstep of the beautiful Big Horn Mountains to the east and Montana’s Pryor
Mountains, famous for wild mustangs, to the north. Bountiful recreation
opportunities are minutes away. We are the gateway town for the Bighorn Canyon
National Recreation Area, home of the spectacular Big Horn Canyon and the
70-mile Big Horn Lake – an area great for hiking, photography, boating,
camping, fishing, kayaking and exploring. Yellowstone is less than two hours to
the west, Billings for concerts and entertainment an hour and a half to the
north and the college town of Powell 20 minutes to the west.

You can get up on a weekend morning and be standing on Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone or hiking a
trail in the Big Horns before noon.

      Competitive salary and benefits.

Reply only if seriously interested! E-mail cover letter, clips and resume to David Peck at
lovelleditor@gmail.com, or mail to 234 E. Main, Lovell, WY 82431. For more
information, call David at 307-548-2217 or 307-272-2284. Job begins ASAP, but
we can wait for graduation, too.

Come join our newspaper family. This is a tremendous opportunity to nurture your journalism
      career in a great environment.
