Theatre and Dance Production Auditions
Production auditions
As a CMU student, you can audition for a role in any primary stage production regardless of your major/minor or year in school. You can also explore options backstage, assisting as crew members working with our sets, lights, hair, props, costumes and sound. Join our creative and passionate community of artists, performers, and technicians.
Auditions for fall main stage productions happen in the first two weeks of school each year, and Spring productions typically take place in November and January. Audition details are posted on our social media channels @CMUTheatre and the bulletin board across from Moore Hall 133. Theatre majors and minors are also notified by email.

Set in Berlin during the twilight of the Weimar Republic as the Nazis are ascending to power, Cabaret focuses on the hedonistic nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub. It revolves around American writer Clifford Bradshaw, his relationship with English cabaret performer Sally Bowles, and the complicated world of pre-war Germany.
Performance opportunities
There are three elements to every audition and students will be considered for their talent in vocal performance, acting, and dance. Students who audition for the Music Theatre Program are automatically considered for the B.F.A. Acting Program.
Vocal Performance

Acting
Prepare 2 contrasting monologues from published plays (no musicals): 2 minutes total time for both monologues. Select age-appropriate monologues. The monologues should highlight your talents.
- Hand-help props and costumes are not permitted.
- Dress appropriately for the performance.
Dance
Students will participate in a master dance class.
- Dance attire is required.
