Diversity Health Spotlight Symposium
The Diversity Health Spotlight Symposium (DHSS) is a week-long series of events that highlight healthcare information about various demographics. This annual series features speakers with expertise on the healthcare realities diverse populations. Complimentary lunch is served daily, and students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend and assist with the coordination of the DHSS.
Halloween Sweet Treats
The week of Halloween is a festive time at the College of Medicine. The Medical Student Council votes on the theme of each day of spirit week and the classes compete to be the winners. On Halloween or the day closest to Halloween, we celebrate in the Student Lounge from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. with sweet treats made by students, faculty, and staff.
Thanksgiving Potluck
Before students head home for Thanksgiving Break, the Medical Student Council partners with the Office of Student Affairs to put on a Thanksgiving potluck the week of Thanksgiving. Students bring their favorite Thanksgiving dishes while the Office of Student Affairs brings the turkeys! It is an evening to relax with your fellow classmates before heading home to see family.
Valentine's Day Sweet Treats
On Valentine’s Day or the day closest to it, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to bring in homemade or store bought sweet treats to share from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Lounge. This is a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day together.
End of the Year Picnic
It may be hard to believe, but the end of year will come faster than you know and to celebrate, the Medical Student Council with the Office of Student Affairs hosts a picnic to celebrate in June. The OSA staff grills up hot dogs and hamburgers while students, faculty and staff are encouraged to bring sides. The students, faculty and staff will also play volleyball, kickball or just reminisce about the year before they begin their summer breaks.
