Expanding access and care for Michigan together
The CMU College of Medicine was founded with the mission to answer the growing need in Michigan for the quality health care provided by well-trained physicians.
The Citizens Research Council of Michigan recently examined the state's physician shortage and determined:
"Michigan has 299 shortage areas and that Michigan's supply of primary care physicians only met 63.3 percent of need by the covered population."
You can make a difference
The College has embarked on an ambitious journey to secure the necessary funding to ensure sustainability and long-term growth. The effort seeks to raise capital in order to:
- Create an endowment for long-term financial security and a basis for growth and progress.
- Gain support for student scholarships in order to offset student debt.
- Secure funding to expand MD and Residency Program capacity and facilities.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss Michigan's physician shortage and the needs of underserved people across our state – and how your support can make a difference.
