Central Michigan University and Jenison Public Schools have formalized a new partnership aimed at providing high school students with expanded opportunities to begin earning college credit before graduation.

The agreement, signed last week, creates a clear pathway for students at Jenison Public High School, Jenison Innovation Academy, and U-Tech Preparatory Academy to participate in online college coursework and career-aligned learning experiences. Through this collaboration, students will benefit from flexible, student-centered learning models designed to support academic progress and workforce readiness.

“This partnership is an example of what’s possible when K–12 and higher education work together with purpose,” said Dr. Kaleb Patrick, Interim Vice President for Innovation and Online at Central Michigan University. “Together, we’re helping students gain real momentum toward their future, before they even graduate high school. It’s about access, opportunity, and removing barriers.”

While the signing ceremony marked the official start of the agreement, both institutions emphasized the ongoing work behind the scenes and their shared commitment to making higher education more accessible, affordable, and aligned with the needs of today’s students.

Dr. Rebekah Redmer, Executive Director of Innovative Programming for Jenison Public Schools, stated "This collaboration provides access to top-tier online university courses for high school students in Jenison and beyond, sparking genuine educational innovation. Together, we're creating powerful pathways that fuel student growth and unlock new opportunities."
