Leading with purpose, giving back with heart
Julia Annarino ’14 is building careers, shaping futures and staying connected to the CMU community that helped launch her own success.
Whether she’s recruiting talent, coaching students or cheering on a CMU sales team, Julia Annarino ’14 shows up — with heart, hustle and purpose.
This year’s recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award, Annarino has built a career grounded in student development, mentorship and meaningful connection. She currently serves as talent acquisition manager for Enterprise Mobility in Metro Detroit, where she has spent the last decade helping others find fulfilling careers.
“I am very fortunate to have a passion for student development — and to have that passion follow me in my career,” said Annarino. “Working at Enterprise Mobility has given me a lot of opportunity and flexibility to continue working with CMU students in ways that matter.”
Her relationship with the university didn’t end at graduation. Annarino is a consistent presence on campus, regularly volunteering her time for classroom visits, panel discussions, competitions and events like Dialog Day. She has also played a key role in supporting the Enterprise-branded CMU vs. Western Sales Challenge — a competition that CMU has now won two years running.
“We’ve created a really cool opportunity that partners my career with Enterprise and CMU,” she said. “This year, the belt is in the HUB — which is awesome!”
Professor Amy McGinnis, who taught Annarino as a student and now partners with her professionally, sees the impact firsthand.
“Julia deserves this award because I’ve seen her dedication and her commitment to helping the College of Business and its students,” said McGinnis. “She benefited from her experiences here — and she wants to give back.”
Annarino’s presence on campus is more than professional — it’s deeply personal.
“I love coming back to CMU,” she said. “I’m fortunate to do it regularly, and I hope to continue to do so.”
Her colleagues and mentors agree: Annarino leads with empathy, enthusiasm and authenticity.
“Julia is amazing with students,” said associate director of career development Erica O’Toole. “She’s down to earth, relatable and friendly. She doesn’t come off intimidating — students really appreciate that.”
“She’s committed, passionate, talented and has an eye for detail,” added faculty member Nick Hussein. “And she’s at that perfect place in her career where students really connect with her.”
In addition to her work with CMU, Annarino also serves on the Wayne State University Ilitch School of Business Advisory Board, where she continues to champion workforce readiness and professional development for emerging leaders.
“She’s a shining star,” said McGinnis. “And a wonderful example of what makes our HR program — and our graduates — so special.”
For Annarino, giving back isn’t an extra — it’s part of the job.
“That’s really the most important part for me,” she said. “Helping students. Supporting their growth. Continuing to be a part of this community that gave so much to me.”
