Music Student Honors Frontline Workers

Jessica Atwell (B.M.) composed a flute quartet titled "With Hope." Her composition was premiered by the Beta Quartet at Fairmont State University in West Virginia. It was chosen to be part of a program honoring frontline workers. In Atwell's words:

"'With Hope'" is a take on honoring those working in ICU units around the world. I'll admit that it was a tough subject to write about due to the unfortunate words and actions many individuals have placed upon these brave people. [...] This past year has been excruciating for these individuals in various ways, so I decided to try and capture not only the bravery, but the darker and more tragic moments they've experienced."

The event was presented by the Fairmont State University Community Arts Program to recognize individuals working in healthcare professions throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. All proceeds from the concert benefitted the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Jessica Atwell is a student of Dr. Joanna Cowan White.
