CMU's Department of Art and Design majors are built to help give you the perspective & experience required to pursue a career in the visual arts. Foundational coursework will provide you with a firsthand understanding of the principles of art and a critical perspective of art in practice and as a profession.

As you develop a greater relationship with materials, tools, and research, you’ll be encouraged to work across disciplines and consider your role as a designer, maker, and scholar in the context of the world around you.
