As a Central Michigan University animation student, you’ll build your understanding of sequential art  & animation technology while working with industry-standard hardware and software.     

When you study animation here at CMU, you will develop the artistic vision and technical skills necessary to produce powerful visual stories in a positive, supportive, and creative community. You can choose to work in a variety of media: from hand-drawn animation to traditional stop-motion, to 3D computer animation.

Areas of focus include character design, storyboarding, 3D modeling, character and effects animation, and more. As you progress through the Animation Program, you’ll be encouraged to focus on your specific areas of interest, and apply them to a number of advanced production opportunities.

As an Animation graduate, you will leave CMU with a strong portfolio and broad set of skills, ready to work in a variety of fields, such as the entertainment industry, advertising and illustration, prototyping and design for manufacturing, and the medical media industry.
