Central Michigan University (CMU) has been awarded a Quick Start Grant aimed at evaluating and enhancing its Innovation and Online Division to better support adult learners. The $74,800 grant will facilitate a comprehensive self-assessment and the implementation of strategies to improve outcomes for post-traditional students.
CMU's initiative focuses on identifying and removing institutional barriers to student success. The team is committed to narrowing equity gaps and enhancing completion rates for adult learners by conducting a thorough assessment of existing practices and implementing evidence-based strategies to better serve the diverse student population.
The project will engage external agencies for assessment and gathering student feedback, as well as analyzing labor market demands. Results from the assessment will inform future projects and funding as Innovation and Online continues to enhance program delivery and student support initiatives.
"We are fully committed to inspiring student success and innovation," said Dr. Kaleb Patrick, interim Vice President of Innovation and Online. "This grant aligns seamlessly with our strategic priorities and underscores our dedication to meeting the evolving needs of our adult student population."
CMU emphasizes its commitment to centering the interests and experiences of learners, with the institution's president and provost endorsing the project and grant application. The university pledges to courageously examine the impacts of institutional policies and practices on student outcomes and to remove barriers to student success.
The Quick Start Grant represents a significant step towards CMU's goal of providing accessible, high-quality education for all learners, ensuring they are equipped with the skills for success in today's competitive marketplace.
