Central Michigan University’s Rocket League team has secured their spot in the Esports Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament. This marks a significant achievement for the team, as they compete against the best in the conference for the championship title.
The tournament kicks off on Friday, Nov. 22 at 11:00 a.m., with matches continuing throughout the weekend. CMU is hosting a watch party for the opening match in Room 202 at the Student Activity Center. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to come together, watch the action live, and show their support for our Rocket League team.
If you can’t attend in person, you can still catch the action from work or home by tuning in to the livestream at twitch.tv/esc_conference or youtube.com/@cmichesports.
As the 5th seed, CMU will face 4th-seeded Bowling Green State University in their first match. The ESC Championship Tournament follows a double-elimination format, giving teams a second chance to battle their way to the top if they lose a match. Each game is a step closer to the championship title, and the competition promises intense action and thrilling moments.
The Rocket League team’s qualification reflects their dedication and commitment to representing CMU. Luke Theis, CMU’s Esports Director, expressed pride in the team’s performance this season.
“This is an incredible opportunity for our student-athletes to showcase their talent on a big stage. We are excited to see the hard work pay off as they compete for the championship,” he said.
