Tune in Friday, April 11 at 1 p.m. for great ideas and fierce competition. Then, join the judges, mentors, spectators and teams as they see who is going home with thousands of dollars in venture financing. The awards broadcast begins at 6:30 p.m. and one team will walk away as the overall best venture.

Central Michigan University’s College of Business Administration is the home of the Isabella Bank Institute for Entrepreneurship and the first Department of Entrepreneurship in the state of Michigan. We are a student-centric hub where experiential, curricular, and external entrepreneurial opportunities intersect.

Our mission is to maximize student success by fostering a campus-wide entrepreneurial mindset that promotes inter-disciplinary collaboration and the creation of new ventures.

We aim to create innovative programming, boost cross-campus and ecosystem collaboration and provide a comprehensive mentoring program.

Our institute provides extracurricular opportunities and is open to all undergraduate and graduate CMU students.

      CMU Trustees to hear from new president, elect new leaders

      Central Michigan University’s new president, Neil MacKinnon, will make his first public report to the  CMU Board of Trustees in formal session Thursday, December 5. Trustees also will hold committee meetings on Wednesday, December 4, on the Mount Pleasant campus.

      On Wednesday, Trustees will visit the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions to learn more about programs and initiatives underway in the college.

      In new business during formal session, Trustees will elect officer positions for 2025, including chair, vice chairs, secretary and treasurer.

      Trustees also will recognize and thank outgoing members Dr. Michael Sandler and Isaiah Oliver who will exit the board at the end of the year. During formal session, both Sandler and Oliver will be considered for emeritus rank, along with former CMU president Bob Davies.

      Other items on the meeting agenda include discussion of:

      Prospective graduates for fall 2024.

      • New and changing endowments, awards and scholarships.
      • Renewal of a lease for CMU Athletics.
      • CMU’s state capital outlay report and project request for 2025-2026.
      • DTE natural gas pipeline easement.
      • Office of Research and Graduate Studies quarterly report.

      Highlights for Wednesday’s committee meetings include:

      • Academic and Student Affairs Committee, 2:00-3:00 p.m. – Vice President Jennifer DeHaemers will provide an enrollment and retention update. Interim Vice President of Student Affairs Stan Shingles and Director Andrea Roggenbuck will give a presentation on the CMU Cares program. Interim Provost and Executive Vice President Paula Lancaster  and Senior Vice Provost Dave Patton will offer an update on the Higher Learning Commission reaccreditation process.
      • Finance and Facilities Committee, 3:00-3:45 p.m. – Scott Harsh, Principal/Senior Consultant with NEPC will provide an update on CMU’s endowment investments. Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services Mary Hill and Jonathan Webb, associate vice president of facilities management, also will provide a facilities update.
      • Trustees-Faculty Liaison Committee, 4:00-4:45 p.m. – Evelyn Smith, faculty member in the Department of Marketing, Hospitality and Logistics, and several of her students will give a presentation on experiential learning in logistics.
      • Trustees-Student Liaison Committee, 4:45-5:30 p.m. – Student Government Association President Caroline Hernandez Ruiz and Vice President Aashka Barot will offer a report on SGA activities. Program Board President Kat Allmacher and Vice President Lauren Rupe and Residence Hall Association Director Bella Andreski also will provide updates from their organizations.

      Board of Trustees meetings are open to the university community and members of the public. All meetings will be held in the President’s Conference Room in the Bovee University Center, with seating for up to 25 individuals in the adjoining Lake Superior Room.
