One-day drive aims for 500 CMU donors

Central Michigan University wants to redefine anniversary gift.

CMU celebrates its 125th anniversary Wednesday, and the advancement team plans to set a single-day record of receiving gifts from more than 500 donors.

The previous one-day record, from last year's Giving Tuesday, was 401 donors.

CMU has had the best back-to-back giving years in its history, Advancement Vice President Bob Martin said.

Martin encourages students, faculty, staff and alumni to support a scholarship or department of their choice through the online campaign — and wants each to ask three friends to give

"At CMU, we don't want to just barely break a record, we want to smash the record," Martin said. "Together we can exceed 500. We are looking for participation. All gifts, any amount."
