      Performing 'Béatrice et Bénédict'

      by Sanjna Jassi
Central Michigan University’s School of Music performs the classic opera Beatrice et Bénédict in Staples Family Concert Hall.

Students, faculty and staff in Central Michigan University's School of Music will perform "Béatrice et Bénédict" March 20-22.

Based on Shakespeare's "Much Ado about Nothing," "Béatrice et Bénédict" is a timeless story about two soldiers, young love and romantic schemes.

Amanda Pabyan, music faculty member and director of the show, is excited to share this opera with the public. She chose "Béatrice et Bénédict" because it offers leading roles for a variety of voices, features stunningly beautiful music and is performed entirely in English.

"I hope people can sit back and enjoy the music and the humor," Pabyan said. "It has a running time of just over two hours, so it should be an enjoyable evening."

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. March 20-21 and at 2 p.m. March 22. Tickets are $7 for students/seniors and $10 for adults and can be purchased through Ticket Central.
