Central Michigan University President Bob Davies today announced a change in leadership in the Division of Student Affairs. Effective immediately, Stan Shingles will serve as interim vice president for student affairs, following the departure today of Renee’ Watson.

“Student success, health and well-being remain our top priorities,” Davies said. “During this transitional period, we will ensure that students continue to receive the support and services they rely on at CMU.”

Shingles, who previously served as assistant vice president for student affairs, is returning after his recently announced retirement. In addition, Davies said Erica Johnson has agreed to resume her role as interim assistant vice president. She was first appointed to the position in November 2022.

“Stan and Erica are both deeply committed to the mission and purpose of the Division of Student Affairs and passionate about supporting our students,” Davies said. “Together, they will support CMU’s outstanding student affairs staff and continue the vital work of supporting and engaging students throughout the university.”
