Reserve a room in renovated Carey Hall

      by Sanjay Gupta
Central Michigan University’s Carey Hall will reopen for fall with newly renovated rooms. Current students can reserve their room this month.

Renovations are underway at Central Michigan University's Carey Hall, and students can soon sign up to live in the newly upgraded suites.

The new suites, designed to accommodate two students, feature full-size beds; upgraded closets and chairs; wood-like flooring; and more. Common areas, including study lounges, are being updated with fresh paint and finishings.

Kathleen Gardner, director of Residence Life, said there will be 78 suites available for residents.

"We are setting aside one floor for incoming first-year students and offering priority room reservations to returning students," Gardner said.

Carey Hall room upgrades include full-size beds, new closets, and new flooring and furnishings. Decorative items, such as the futon and micro-fridge, are not included.

Students who currently live on campus and would like to sign up for a room in Carey Hall for the 2020-2021 academic year may apply online beginning Jan. 28.

Gardner said the proposed room rate for Carey Hall, located in the Towers, will be approximately 15% more than the current standard room rate, pending approval by CMU's Board of Trustees.
