Two CMU graduate programs ranked in nation’s top 100

Two specialty graduate programs at Central Michigan University are ranked among the top 100 nationwide by U.S. News and World Report.

CMU’s audiology program was ranked the 34th best in the nation in the magazine’s annual rankings, released recently. The program also was the highest ranked audiology graduate program in Michigan. Speech-Language Pathology was among the 100 best programs in the nation and the third best program in Michigan.

Tom Masterson, dean of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, said the programs have been cornerstones of the college and the community for decades.

“Students in these programs provide clinical care to regional patients through CMU’s Carls Center for Clinical Care,” Masterson said. “Our students gain remarkable hands-on experience while serving individuals who might not otherwise receive care.”

Both programs produce high-quality clinicians dedicated to serving people in Michigan and beyond, said CMU Provost Nancy Mathews.

"CMU is proud of the recognition of the outstanding Doctorate of Audiology program — which is the longest-running audiology program in the nation — and the master’s program in Speech-Language Pathology,” Mathews said. “Our graduates have gone on to serve communities locally and nationally.”

U.S. News and World Reports’ rankings for health-related fields are based on peer assessment data from academics in a relevant field.
