Learn to master CLO3D for fashion

Three courses offered

Develop digital skill proficiency utilizing CLO3D digital technology to create virtual prototypes using 3D images, digital pattern and grading, application of color and materials, garment fit, styling, and presentation techniques on a 3D avatar.

Jumpstart your career and upskill by learning 3D virtual design and prototype building, a sought-after relevant technology design skill to add to your CV and portfolio. Each course can be completed in 3-4 weeks and you can work at your own pace.

After applying, you will receive a Welcome email confirming your application, program details, course options, and pricing. 

You will then receive a phone call from CMU to register you for the course you want to take and to take payment. If your company is paying for the course for you, we can send them a bill, or take their credit card information. 

After you have registered for your course, in about 3 days you will receive an email about getting access to a CMU Guest Global ID and the steps to activate it. This will give you access to Blackboard, where the course will be held. 

Recommended

  • A basic understanding of garment construction and patterns.
  • A 2019 or newer computer is recommended.
  • A 3-button mouse or mouse with wheel is required.
  • A second monitor is recommended.
  • Adobe Illustrator – comfortable using the pen tool, concept of paths and closed objects (for CLO3D III).

Course offerings, dates and registration

Fall 2024

    September 7th – September 29th
    COST $600

    In this 3-week, self-paced course, you will learn:

  • How to navigate the software and the basic tools.
  • Virtual sewing in 2D to 3D workspaces.
  • Basic pattern manipulation.
  • How to apply fabric and color selection.
  • Basic presentation techniques.
  • October 7th – November 3rd
    COST $700

    Requirements: CLO3D I or a basic understanding of CLO3D

    In this 4-week, self-paced course, you will learn:

  • How to import DXF files to Clo3D and export patterns as DXF.
  • More complex pattern manipulation, pleats, slash and spread, dart rotation.
  • How to create a pattern from a design sketch.
  • How to evaluate fit on an avatar.
  • How to create a point of measure table.
  • Basic pattern grading.
  • November 11th – December 8th
    COST $700

    Requirements: CLO3D I or current CLO3D user, and a Adobe Illustrator user.

    In this 4-week, self-paced course, you will learn:

  • Creation and application of graphic prints and label.
  • Embroidery, brand size labels and advanced stitching details.
  • How to create colorways.
  • Avatar editing and animation techniques for presentation.

     

  • Spring 2025

      January 6th – January 26th
      COST $600

      In this 3-week, self-paced course, you will learn:

    • How to navigate the software and the basic tools.
