Certification to Credit Program

Central Michigan University recognizes the commitment principals and school administrators make to the field of education each and every day. One way we acknowledge this dedication and hard work is through our new CERT to CREDIT program. Anyone who holds a valid administrator certification through an accredited, state-approved alternative route program (e.g., MASSP, MASA, NCSI) will receive up to 15 credits for their earned certification, which they can apply toward a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership (MA-EL), Specialist in Education (Ed.S.), or Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree program.

To qualify for this program, applicants must hold a valid state administrator certification (either ES or CO) obtained through an approved alternative route program and meet all admission requirements for their chosen graduate degree program at CMU. This program provides a streamlined pathway for working administrators to earn advanced degrees while recognizing your prior learning, thus avoiding redundant coursework.
