TLC 2024 Summer Institute 

Championing Literacy Success in Michigan’s Schools, PK-12th Grade 

The Literacy Center at Central Michigan University invites you to participate in our two-day Summer Institute at our Mount Pleasant campus!  

We are now accepting educator applications for our annual Summer Institute! Registration will close as soon as all available spots are filled but no later than Friday, June 7, 2024 @ 5 p.m. 

  • Space is limited to 75 participants.  
  • 12-hour professional learning experience
  • In-person, full-day workshop (6 hours per day) with a variety of sessions focusing on early/elementary literacy 
  • Tuesday, June 25th & Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 
    9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (arrive by 8:45 a.m.)  
    Central Michigan University: Education and Human Services Building; Anspach Hall

    Teachers who are accepted to this event (sponsored by The Literacy Center at CMU, along with the generous support of an anonymous donor) will participate in various sessions focused on early & elementary and adolescent literacy. 

    • Sessions will feature renowned literacy speakers from throughout Michigan and the U.S. Join us as they share the latest in research and best practices from literacy classrooms!  
    • Learn a variety of literacy strategies, ranging from reading and writing to speaking, listening, and viewing in multimodal texts.
    • Receive a $150 stipend upon successful completion of the two-day Summer Institute.
    • Complimentary dorm housing, lunches, snacks, refreshments, and cost of the MiRegistry/SCECH hours for the 2024 Summer Institute are provided.  

    On-site parking will be provided for overnight or daytime participation. You will also receive complimentary professional development materials as part of your participation.

    The CMU Literacy Center 2024 Summer Institute is generously funded by an Anonymous Donor. This is a multi-year commitment, and we thank this donor for their continued support!
