John Veilleux, vice president and chief marketing officer for Central Michigan University, announced that Kiera Davenport has been chosen to be the next director of digital strategy.

Davenport comes to CMU from Indiana University East in Richmond, Indiana, where she most recently held the position of Manager of Web Services. She brings 16 years of experience with content, strategy, design, web development, digital marketing, needs analysis and analytics.

“I look forward to discovering opportunities to make the CMU digital campus a continuously improving and satisfying experience for prospective students and the entire CMU community,” said Davenport.

During her time at IU East, Davenport led and coordinated projects for the web team, overseeing the restructuring and redevelopment of a new end-user-focused website. In that role, she also:

  • Developed a custom project and task management system to bridge communication gaps between multiple departments, and accurately measure and report on progress.
  • Implemented advanced Google Analytics tools to more accurately measure time on page, engagement and conversions.
  • Developed a campus web and digital accessibility plan.

The digital strategy team is driving a new era and culture that showcases collaboration and expertise, and Davenport is the perfect person to lead it, Veilleux said.

Davenport’s first day as director of digital strategy is Monday, Nov. 7.
