Dean Masterson earns Fellow award for contributions to health professions
Dr. Thomas Masterson Jr., Dean of The Herbert H. & Grace A Dow College of Health Professions (CHP), was awarded Fellow status by the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP). The ASAHP Fellows Program Award recognizes members who have significantly contributed to health professions administrators, educators, clinicians, and researchers.
ASAHP’S mission—to advance health professions education and discovery through interprofessional collaboration, leadership, excellence, and innovation—is more pertinent than ever, as interprofessional collaboration has become a best practice in clinical care. Dean Masterson has taken pride in his work with ASAHP and has continued to bring its mission into CHP.
“Interprofessional collaboration is an integral part of the education in the College of Health Professions at CMU, and we have a state-of-the-art Interprofessional Education and Practice Center where students prepare for their future in healthcare,” said Masterson.
Dean Masterson has been a member of ASAHP since 2007 and has served on several committees. Currently, he chairs the Mentor-Mentee Program. He is excited about the future of ASAHP’s work and looks forward to its continued impact.
