Four CMU graduate programs ranked in nation’s top 100

13 programs among best in the state

Four graduate programs at Central Michigan University are ranked among the top 100 nationwide by U.S. News & World Report.

CMU’s audiology program was ranked 29th best in the nation in the magazine’s annual rankings. The program also was the highest ranked audiology graduate program in Michigan. Healthcare Management (62nd overall, 2nd in Michigan), Speech-Language Pathology (74th overall, 3rd in Michigan) and Statistics (92nd overall, 3rd in Michigan) were also among the top 100 programs in their respective categories.

In total, 13 CMU graduate programs made the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Graduate Schools rankings:

  • Audiology: #1 in Michigan (#29 overall)
  • Healthcare Management: #2 in Michigan (#62 overall)
  • Speech-Language Pathology: #3 in Michigan (#74 overall)
  • Statistics: #3 in Michigan (#92 overall)
  • Physical Therapy: #4 in Michigan (#154 overall)
  • Mathematics: #4 in Michigan (#173 overall)
  • Psychology: #4 in Michigan (#214 overall)
  • Public Health: #5 in Michigan (#137 overall)
  • History: #5 in Michigan (#141 overall)
  • Public Affairs: #5 in Michigan (#179 overall)
  • Biological Sciences: #5 in Michigan (#203 overall)
  • Clinical Psychology: #6 in Michigan (#170 overall)
  • Fine Arts: #9 in Michigan (#178 overall)

The CMU College of Medicine also received recognition in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 rankings, earning a place among the top 20 medical schools in the country for placing graduates in rural areas and in health professional shortage areas.

This year's edition of U.S. News Best Graduate Schools features rankings of more than 7,000 degree-granting programs at more than 1,100 universities. Rankings are calculated using objective measures and opinions of peers and recruiters.
