The Library loans laptops

The CMU Libraries has a new laptop loaning program. Students can now check out laptops for up to two weeks at a time and can use them wherever they need to do their work, on campus or off.

The library has loaned laptops to students for several years, but in the past those laptops had to be used in the library and could only be checked out for four hours.

We received a lot of requests for short-term loans – ranging from a couple days to a few weeks — and for laptops that could be used outside of the library. In most cases, students hoped to check out a loaner laptop while their personal laptop was being repaired or while they were waiting for a new laptop to arrive.

In response, the library has now set aside 20 laptops, including eighteen PC laptops and two Macs, that can be checked out and used anywhere for up to two weeks.
