Programs & Training Opportunities
CMUPD provides educational workshops free of charge to students, faculty and staff on issues concerning safety and wellbeing. Programs generally last one hour and include time for questions. In addition, throughout the year, our Police Officers participate in campus events with crime prevention and education display tables staffed by officers. Empowerment - De-escalation -Self Defense
CMUPD Empowerment, De-escalation, Self Defense workshops take a systematic approach to personal safety by teaching situational awareness, verbal strategies, and physical techniques for evading and countering aggressive and violent behavior.
Active Violence Incident - Run, Hide, Fight
Contemplating an active attacker incident is terrifying and disturbing. While unlikely to occur, knowing how to respond could save lives. CMUPD is committed to providing you with the information to help you stay safe. Having a plan helps you make decisions and could save your life and others.
Citizens Police Academy
CMUPD Citizens Police Academy gives the community the opportunity to gain experience about various aspects of law enforcement. Members of the academy will gain insight into the operation of our police department and learn how the law enforcement community works together to maintain public safety. This workshop is based on self-awareness and planning with a strong emphasis on Intuition (Book of Fear).
Substance Abuse Informational Workshop
Showing the human condition of substance abuse and how it effects the body long term and identifying the signs of impairment through educational videos.
