Process of application for admission and financial support
Application for admission to graduate program and application for financial support are two separate processes. The following two tables describe the required materials and deadlines separated by applications for admission only and applications for admission and financial support. Note that financial support is only applicable for PhD and MS applicants.
Admission only without applying for support
Deadline: Six weeks before semester begins (approximately July 1st for fall, October 1st for Spring)

Are you an international student applicant?
What are the TOEFL requirements?
All prospective students who are not citizens of a TOEFL-exempt country must submit a satisfactory test score on the TOEFL or IELTS.
- Score requirements: 79 or 6.5 on the TOEFL/IELTS for regular admission
- 61-78 or 5.5 and 6.0 for admissions with stipulations

What is the GRE requirement?
- The general GRE is required for admission and financial support for PhD, and financial support for MS applicants
- There is no required minimum score. It is one of the criteria for evaluation. In general, the quantitative score often receive higher weight in the evaluation

What are requirements for the letters of references?
- If you apply for financial support, three letters of references are required. The information the applicant is required to provide references’ names, affiliations and e-mails during the online application process
- In the process of the online application, make sure you indicate on the application form that you are applying for Graduate Assistantship (GA) in the department. If you fail to do this, you will not be able to request for reference letters during your application. Also, the department will not include your name on the list of applicants for graduate assistantship. If you fail to indicate that you are applying for GA, the department cannot help you
- When you contact your references, make sure you inform them to upload a written letter when they complete your online reference.
