New eBook platform – Overdrive

CMU Libraries is happy to announce the addition of a new ebook platform, Overdrive.

You may already be familiar with the Overdrive platform or have used the Libby app to borrow ebooks or audiobooks from a public library. Overdrive allows us to provide ebooks from smaller publishers that may not be available via larger ebook platforms, making thousands of titles available in multiple ebook formats, such as EPUB and Kindle.  You can download ebooks from Overdrive on the Libby app or on your Kindle.

Library users can view the titles provided by the CMU Libraries by downloading the Libby app from the app store or linking directly to the Overdrive website.  The Libby app will provide suggested titles in various subject areas that may be of interest.  If you want to borrow an ebook, you can check it out just like you would a print book.  Simply connect your library card to the app, which requires logging in to your library account using your GlobalID and password.  The loan period is seven days, and ebooks can be renewed if there are no holds.  You may may check out up to three books at one time and place up to three holds on titles currently checked out.  Most titles are for one user at a time, just like a print book. The library currently only provides access to ebook versions of titles.  Audiobooks may become available in the future.

Take the time to review the titles available at Overdrive today!
