Take a Moment to De-Stress at CMU Libraries

A cozy library scene features a young woman petting a large dog while others chat nearby. On the left, a shelf displays colorful board games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, and 7 Wonders, emphasizing a welcoming, playful atmosphere.

Did you know that CMU Libraries hosts multiple events and spaces throughout the semester to support student mental health? Within the hustle and bustle of a busy academic year, everyone needs to take time now and again to check in with themselves, de-stress and focus on their mental well-being.

If you’re looking to take a pause during the prep for exam week, stop by the Park Library to visit our De-Stress Zone or pet a pup on one of our Therapy Dog days! Therapy Dogs will be visiting the second floor of the University Library on the following dates and times:

December 4th & 5th……………………………5-7 PM

December 8th……………………………..……..1-3 PM & 5-7 PM

December 9th & 10th………………………….5-7 PM

The De-Stress Zone is located on the second floor of the University Library, near the north windows. Take time for yourself and zone out with a distraction, such as a board game, coloring book, puzzle, and other activity, or get a group together for a fun activity night. If you’re looking to spend some time relaxing off campus, check out a game from our growing Board Game Collection or grab a popular fiction or nonfiction title from the Browsing Collection, both conveniently located near the 2nd floor Library Services Desk.

If you’d like a quiet moment alone amidst the hectic end of the semester, take a step into one of the Libraries’ Quality of Life rooms, located in Park 121 and Park 351. These spaces are perfect for a peaceful moment away from it all, whether that is spent with de-stressing, meditation, prayer, or reflection. The rooms include a lounge chair, standing lamp, worktable, power outlets, and a lockable door, and are available any time the Library is open.

Stop by the Park Library today to take a break from it all!
