Library’s board game collection is expanding

Overview image looking down at a table covered in Board Games that have recently been added to the Library's collection from CMU's CLGS organization. A few games to note are Rack-o, Black Skull Island, Treasure Hunter, Azul and many many more.

We’re excited to announce that the library’s board game collection is expanding! In partnership with the Center for Learning through Games and Simulations (CLGS) the library will be adding over 300 new board games to the collection. These games, originally located in the CLGS offices in Anspach, will begin making their journey to the library in January 2025. This partnership will increase ease of access to the CLGS’ large board game collection for our students, faculty, and staff and provide a central location on campus for board game circulation.

Due to the size of the collection, it will likely take some time to prepare them all for circulation, but we will do our best to ensure these games hit the shelves as soon as they’re ready.  For those interested in exploring the collection you’ll find it located next to the Library Services Desk on the 2nd floor of the library. You can also explore the collection online. Games will circulate exclusively to CMU students, faculty, and staff for one-week loan.

Instructors are welcome to use the games in their classrooms. If you’d like to ensure a game is available for classroom use, please reach out to cmulibraries@cmich.edu with your request and we will ensure your requested games are available when you need them. If you’re interested in using games in the classroom but you’re not sure where to start, reach out to CLGS at clgs@cmich.edu for more information.
