Career Discussion with Sociology Alum Danielle D. North

Danielle D. North graduated from CMU in 2006 with a degree in Sociology. A first-generation college student, she has successfully founded several programs in Detroit to benefit children and youth facing adversity, including Kidz Kingdom, Detroit’s first indoor playground, Big Kidz, a youth entrepreneurship and career summer camp, and the Detroit Women’s Leadership Network among others.

Her work has been recognized and honored by the Detroit Free Press Shining Light Mayor Dave Bing Future Leader Award, Crain’s Detroit Business’ 40 Under 40 Leader Award, and the Spirit of Detroit Award. 

North was recently named the Executive Director of the Detroit office of Bottom Line, a non-profit organization that promotes racial equity by providing support to low-income and first-generation students from high school until college graduation.

She will share her career experiences and answer questions from CMU students in the new College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences HUB.
