CMU alumna Kara Agby has been honored by Forbes magazine as a “30 Under 30 2025: Sports” recipient. Among the honorees joining her are well-known professional athletes Caitlin Clark, Jayson Tatum, and Christian McCaffrey.

“It’s an unexpected honor of a lifetime, beyond anything I could ever comprehend,” Agby said.

Agby, 29, works as a Director of Partnership Development for the Golden State Warriors. According to Forbes, she “has been trusted with bringing some of the organization's largest partnerships to life. Beyond her official duties, she is a leader in Golden State’s partner summit committee and serves as vice chair of Women of the Warriors, an employee resource group focused on gender equity.”

“I absolutely love what I do!” Agby said. “There is never a boring day working in sports and entertainment, and being surrounded by like-minded, competitive, and genuine people creates an exciting and supportive work environment.”

Agby was hired by the Warriors in May 2021. She previously worked in partnership development with the Detroit Lions.

Finding her passion

The 2018 CMU graduate earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Integrative Public Relations.

“My IPR degree gave me the tools to be successful in whatever career route I chose,” Agby said. “I’m so grateful CMU helped me find my voice and passion.

Agby is a native of Harrison Township, Michigan. She began her time at CMU on a pre-med route with a major in biomedical sciences. It wasn’t until her junior year that a friend encouraged her to pursue a career that she was more passionate about. After many meetings with advisors and professors, she chose IPR.

“My time at CMU was life-changing,” she said. “I know that sounds incredibly cheesy, but in my five years there, CMU created a safe space for me to discover myself, and as a result, I have approached life and my career with a different level of confidence and passion. Fire Up Forever!”
