Dan Majerle '88

Dan played 14 years in the NBA and is known by fans as “Thunder Dan” and “Dan the Man.”  He played most of his career with the Phoenix Suns, but also with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers.  During his career, he was named to the All-Star team three times, and was named once in a year when he didn’t even start for his own team.  He has won a bronze medal with the U.S. National Team at the 1988 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the 1994 FIBA World Championship. 

He spent four seasons as an analyst on the Suns television broadcasts.  He made his broadcast debut during the NBS playoffs and has worked for ESPN and ABC.  Dan has been inducted into the Suns "Ring of Honor" (2003), Michigan Sports Hall of Fame (2006), Traverse City Central High School's Hall of Fame (2006) and CMU's Athletic Hall of Fame (1998).  He received CMU's Centennial Year Award in 1992 and participated in their 100 Years of Basketball Celebration in 2004.  He spent several seasons as coach for the Phoenix Suns. 

Dan opened Majerle's Sports Grill in the oldest commercial building in Phoenix, just a block away from the Sun's arena.  He currently operates three locations.
