Mileage reimbursement overview

• Reimbursement for transportation by personal vehicle is generally authorized for in-state travel in the vicinity of the approved travel destination.
• Travel by personal vehicle is reimbursed at the current established University mileage rate per official map mileage based on the Rand McNally Standard Mileage Guide.
• Mileage reimbursement may not exceed the cost of round-trip economy airfare, airport limousine, and vicinity mileage.
• Mileage must be to and from the point of employment since the University does not reimburse mileage for commuting.
• Vicinity mileage is an allowable expense when driving is required within the vicinity of the original destination.

Current CMU mileage rate

• 2024 mileage rate = 67 cents per mile (effective January 1, 2024)
