Take 2 Type 2
Rosemarie Vitale, a registered dietitian and recent graduate of the Central Michigan Master's of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics program published her research, "The Effects of Intermittent Fasting on Glycemic Control and Body Composition in Adults with Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes: A Systematic Review", in the Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders Journal. Rosemarie concluded that intermittent fasting was a feasible diet for providing short-term benefits on measures of glycemic control and weight loss in adults with type 2 diabetes and obesity. Although intermittent fasting demonstrated favorable outcomes for this patient population, her research revealed that this diet was equivalent to a continuous energy restriction and did not have long-lasting benefits. Based on her findings, Rosemarie hopes to educate patients who are interested in intermittent fasting and help them adapt this diet to their lifestyle.
Rosemarie completed her MS while working full-time at the Children's Hospital of Michigan endocrinology department. She is currently practicing as a registered dietitian for Wayne Pediatrics in downtown Detroit, specializing in pediatric weight management and obesity.
