Bay Mills Community College
Student Transition Enrichment Program Academic Advising
As a participant in STEP, you have the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor who will help you with academic planning, connect you to useful resources on campus, and otherwise support you before, during, and after your transition to CMU. You also have the ability to participate in peer mentoring and get involved in the Student Transfer Organization (STO).
If you are currently a community or tribal college student, you may have the chance to connect with the academic advisor on your campus, as they visit the following 4 area community and tribal colleges on a monthly basis during the fall and spring semesters:
Lansing Community College
They will provide information regarding STEP, transferring to CMU, and resources available to you as a prospective/future transfer student, as well as present workshops that will assist you in your transition. They will also talk about admissions, scholarships and financial aid, Transfer Student Visit Days, and other upcoming events.
Once you are admitted to STEP, you will meet with an academic advisor at least twice a semester during your last year at your community/tribal college and your first year at CMU. During these meetings, you will work together on academic planning and have the opportunity to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have. Advanced notice is appreciated, but not required, so feel free to stop by UC 110 anytime and say "hello!"
